Review: flipflop wine

"With flipflop wines, we have embraced the movement toward individualistic expression, instead of manufacturing wines into some cookie-cutter style that’s all the rage. Our goal is to craft expressive, well-balanced wines that evoke just what the grapes inside intended, without being over-wrought or over-explained, and that can be enjoyed at any occasion."

A couple weeks ago, flipflop wines asked me to taste a few of their wines. Since I love trying new wine I was definitely excited for the opportunity! They sent me their Pinot GrigioRiesling, and Pinot Noir. Immediately I noticed how user-friendly the bottles are. There is a description about the flavor notes, food pairing tips, and a scale to show how sweet or dry that particular wine is. This is a great way to make trying wine accessible for non-connoisseurs and intermediate wine drinkers like myself. Of the three I tried, my favorite is the Riesling. Generally, I'm a fan of this type of wine anyways, and I think that the flipflop Riesling had the perfect balance of sweet and dry. The Pinot Grigio was a little more dry than I expected, but still very tasty! The Pinot Noir was also dry but rich and delicious!

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by flipflop wines, but was concerned now that I've found something I like, that I might have trouble finding it available near me. However, a few nights ago while browsing the selection at my local wine store, I was pleased to find that they offer the full selection of flipflop wine! I've already picked up another bottle of the Riesling to enjoy in the near future. Additionally, flipflop wine not only appeals to my taste buds, it also appeals to my frugal side. At $7 a bottle, how can I resist these great tasting wines?

Finally I'm impressed by flipflop wine in it's stewardship efforts. They've partnered with Soles4Souls Inc., the international shoe charity dedicated to providing free footwear to those in need. For every bottle of flipflop wine purchased, one pair of flip-flop sandals will be donated (up to 100,000)! To learn more about Soles4Souls, please visit: http://www.soles4souls.org/

I'm now a fan and have started recommending flipflop to friends. I also know I'm not the only one impressed by flipflop wines, because they've won a variety of awards and four just received a "Best Buy Award" in the June issue of Wine Enthusiast Magazine!

Where does the time go?

Time has been flying in the Murphy household! Elliot will be 8 weeks old on Thursday, and he already has a quite a personality!

We've been enjoying summer, and my family visited last week for my birthday. I've been very busy with my photography. Finally, I will soon be able to start the official countdown for my husband's return from Afghanistan! Lots of great things going on here :)
