We said goodbye again...

R&R is a tease, saying goodbye again just 161 days after we said goodbye the first time is not fun. Now Jacob and I have to get back in our routine, which also means me getting back to blogging. I hope that the next ~6 months goes quickly.

Wordless Wednesday: Mini-vacation

We've been enjoying my husband's two weeks of R&R and squeezed in a mini vacation to Gatlinburg, TN. Here are a few photos I took at Cades Cove. I loved the breathtaking views there :)

Thrifty Tip: Paypal Debit Card

I love Paypal and use it all the time! Some of the survey companies I'm signed up with offer Paypal payments so there's always a little money flowing into my account. I usually think of my Paypal money as spending money for various deals I come across online, but I also use it to buy from websites that I'm not to sure about entering my credit or debit card info on. About a year ago I decided to sign up for the Paypal debit card, which has no fee, and it makes it even easier to spend survey earnings in stores or restaurants (vs. waiting to transfer the money to my bank account). What I love about the debit card is I get 1% cash back every month in my account. It may not seem like much, but a dollar here and there is something to me especially since it is effortless. If you are a Paypal fan, I suggest you check out their debit card because it's another easy way to earn a little cash with little effort.

Review and Giveaway: Love, Lust & Faking It by Jenny McCarthy (signed copy!)

*Originally this giveaway was going to be on my Army Wife for Now blog, but I've been falling behind on maintaining two blogs, so I opted to post it here instead. Lucky for you!

I'm a fan of Jenny McCarthy's books, I think they are funny, entertaining, and easy to relate to. When I was asked to review a copy of her new book Love, Lust & Faking It: The Naked Truth About Sex, Lies, and True Romance, I said sure!

New York Times bestselling author Jenny McCarthy returns to her comic roots in this candid, wise, and witty look at women, men, sex, romance, heartbreak, love, and how (not) to fake it.

Jenny explores the intensity of first love, introducing us to Tony, the boy of her teenage dreams, and Tubby, her dirty, sexy stuffed teddy bear. She takes us on a whirlwind tour of the world of aphrodisiacs and fetishes, explains the importance of playing doctor and other nice and naughty fantasies, and gives thanks for the pleasures of chocolate. And she sets the story straight on STDs, man junk and lady bits, why we really cheat, why women are master manipulators, the virtues of sex with the lights off, the power of a “loving no,” the satisfaction of the perfect booty call, and so much more.

Filled with humorous stories about her own out-rageous exploits—from becoming a Playboy Miss October to the pain of getting a discount boob job to meeting Brad Pitt—as well as the lessons she’s learned from family, friends, and fans, Love, Lust & Faking It takes on a subject the sex symbol, mother, television star, comedian, and divorc√Če can be trusted to examine with nothing but unvarnished honesty and earthy humor. Throughout, Jenny reminds us to aim higher, believe in true love, and, most of all, be kind to ourselves. And to have lots of fun and sex—without faking it.

My Thoughts:
When I first opened my copy of Love, Lust & Faking It, I was pleased to see that it was signed to me. It's nice to know that Jenny McCarthy takes the time to personalize a copy of her book for a review! Overall, I like that the style of the book is personal, honest, and matter if fact. It has funny parts that I could relate to, as well as parts that I learned something new. Specifically, the chapter in which she interviews Byron Katie about www.thework.com was enlightening to me. I also enjoyed the chapter where she interviewed her marriage and family therapist, since it resonates with my training in counseling. Love, Lust & Faking It is a lighthearted and easy read for an adult audience, I recommend it!
