Kelly's Closet: Free FuzziBunz Cloth Diaper with $35 purchase!

From now until January 2nd, you can get a free FuzziBunz one-size cloth diaper with a $35+ order from Kelly's Closet! Just use the code: NEWYEAR when you check out and one will be automatically added to your shopping cart.

I placed an order tonight for a bumGenius 4.0 and Katydid One-Size Cloth Diaper for $35.90 (pre-shipping) and got a free Fuzzibunz. So it worked out to be less than $12 each! We are slowly working on building a bigger stash so that Elliot is covered when he arrives and I won't have to wash diapers daily between a newborn and a toddler :)

Limit 1 code per order, and 3 uses per customer. Expires Jan 2nd at midnight EST.

Guest Post: Organic Crunchy Cookies for Dogs!

Still need a gift for your furry family members and friends? Christine at The Domestic Princess was kind enough to share her recipe for Organic Crunchy Cookies for dogs!

Organic Crunchy Cookies (for Dogs)

**Makes about 16 cookies**

1 1/2 cup Organic Whole Wheat Flour
1 1/2 cup Organic Brown Rice Flour
2 tsp cinnamon
1 egg
1/4 honey
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup water

Preheat oven to 375. Combine all ingredients together and mix thoroughly in a large bowl. Add 1/2 extra water while combining ingredients. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. These will not expand so you can place them close together. I used a fork to make them look like peanut butter cookies rather than big blobs.

Bake 20 minutes or until brown. Bag up in cookie bags and give to all your favorite furry friends.

I highly recommend you check out The Domestic Princess, Christine blogs about all things domestic as well as her and her husband's journey through infertility:

Review and Giveaway: World's Best Origami (Ends 1/5)

I love to review books, especially when it is an activity oriented book! So I was excited when I was recently sent a copy of World's Best Origami to review. Origami is the traditional Japanese art of paper folding. I have always been fascinated, yet sometimes frustrated by origami, so I was initially curious about the user-friendliness of this guide. As soon as I picked it up, I was impressed with the amount of diagrams and projects in the book! It is the most thorough origami guide I've seen. On top of that there are plenty of projects for each skill level, ranging from beginner to advanced. So I was able to find a handful of projects that I can create without frustration.

Additionally, I really like that there are educational activities in the book as well. My sister is a high school math teacher, so I passed my copy of World's Best Origami along to her so she can try a few of the projects out with her students. From an eco-friendly perspective, origami is also a great activity for kids and teens because it can challenge you to find paper around the house to reuse for something new!

Buy it: You can purchase World's Best Origami for $19.95 (or less!) on Amazon.

Win it: One reader will win a copy of World's Best Origami. To enter, comment below on who you would give this book to, or if you have experience making origami.

Eco-friendly Goals for the New Year!

It's almost a new year, so it's time to come up with some new eco-friendly goals. One that immediately comes to mind is reducing more plastic in our home. It seems like every week I come across a new article about BPA and where it is showing up in an every day product that I never even thought of as harmful. Recently, I saw information about BPA in the plastic coating on cardboard books that babies love to chomp on and read! Great another source of toxins in my home! Information about plastics and harmful chemicals can be overwhelming at times, however, in the next year I want to use this information as motivation to further eliminate them from our home as much as possible.

So far we've been successful in ditching the plastic bag when we shop, ditching plastic water bottles, switching to glass containers for storing and heating food, cloth diapering, and buying many cloth, wood, and recycled toys. There is still so much more we can do though! For one, I am doing my best to buy PVC-free products now, and I love that some of my favorite companies like Little Twig use PVC-free packaging. Another thing I'm willing to try is cloth wipes, especially with the new baby on the way, so we cut down waste further. A third goal I have is to get my city to partner with RecycleBank! When I lived in California, I got paid to recycle, here it's rare and you have to pay for it yourself, which seems backwards to me. I'd like to change that.

What are your eco-friendly goals for the next year?

Review and Giveaway: EZ Sox

"Created by parents who tired of seeing their young son struggle dressing himself, Eileen and Ronnie Gesser designed socks with pull-up loops on both sides of each sock, and fun graphics on the tops of the socks. In no time, their son was no longer frustrated and proudly dressing himself. Today this fun and easy teaching tool for teaching kids self-sufficiency is the only one of its kind."

EZ Sox are are endorsed by TV’s The Doctors, Parenting Magazine, Raising a Sensory Smart Child author Lindsey Biel, OTR/L, and Mommy and Me founder/child development specialist Dr. Cindy Nurik.

My thoughts:

I was sent a pair of EZ Sox to try out with my son, unfortunately they sent me a size much too large for his little feet at 14 months, so we were unable to test them personally. However, based on my impression the socks are well-made, soft, and have cute designs. The pull-up loops are sturdy and are just the right size for small fingers, plus there are grips on the bottom to prevent slips on hardwood floors. The sizes range for children 2-5 years old.

Buy it:
EZ Sox are available online at http://www.ezsox.com. EZ Sox are also sold in stores across the country, find a store here.

Win it:
One reader will win two pairs of EZ Sox in the designs of your choice. To enter, visit EZ Sox and then come back here and comment on which two designs you like.
