If you are a cloth-diapering mom then you will probably understand what I mean when I say that it is kind of exciting to try new cloth diapers, accessories, and cleaning products. Well, several weeks ago, I had been eagerly awaiting the arrival of my Crunchy Clean detergent samples! I’ve been searching for a detergent that will get my son’s cloth diapers nice and clean, leave them smelling fresh, and without being harmful for the environment. When I recently heard about Crunchy Clean and read great reviews, I decided that this was a detergent I needed to try.
Here’s what really sold me though, I heard that the ingredients in Crunchy Clean meet the requirements to be used on military uniforms! Actually, it’s the ingredients that aren’t in Crunchy Clean (enzymes and optical brighteners). In theory I could wash my son’s diapers and my husband’s Army uniforms all in one load (not that I would). Previously, I had a couple different detergents I used depending on what I was washing, and as a mom I always jump at an opportunity to simplify. I emailed Ashley, the creator of Crunchy Clean, and asked about using the detergent on military uniforms. She confirmed the rumors and said that her Crunchy Clean detergent mixed with a little borax was the only solution she found to getting tough stains out of her husband’s military uniforms while he served.
A little info about Crunchy Clean:
Crunchy Clean is a WAHM business that makes all natural, earth-friendly detergents for everyone and every day use, not just cloth diapers!
My Thoughts:
First I tested out Crunchy Clean on a load of my son’s cloth diapers and liners, and chose the Baby Essential Oil Blend. For my washer, two scoops (and the scoops are really cute I might add) was the perfect amount for cleaning the poop and urine soiled diapers. Other detergents were leaving an ammonia scent in the diapers, but not Crunchy Clean! They smelled so sweet that I wanted to bury my nose in a clean diaper and breathe the fragrance in! That’s something I wouldn’t have done with the old detergents… Also because Crunchy Clean does not use soap in the diaper detergent, you will not get buildup or clogging in the fabric.
Then I waited until my husband came home from another muddy field training excursion before testing out Crunchy Clean Everyday detergent in Lavender and Grapefruit on his Army uniforms. WOW! It worked wonders! Crunchy Clean detergent was able to remove red clay mud stains from the fabric and left a lovely scent behind as well, which is a nice change from how his uniforms typically smell. I hope he doesn’t get teased too much about it. Note: I tried Crunchy Clean alone first and it performed extremely well, but when I added borax to the wash I did notice the uniforms seemed a little brighter.
What I love about Crunchy Clean :
- All Natural and Earth Friendly!
- Phosphate, Chlorine, and Dye free
- Non-toxic
- Great for babies and sensitive skin
- Gets out tough stains and odors
- Formulated for Hard Water
- Lots of scent to choose from
- It smells wonderful (I’m especially a sucker for lavender) and because my washer and dryer are next to the kitchen and living room, the wonderful fragrances drifted into the rest of the house
- Many uses for Crunchy Clean besides laundry
- Affordable! I have a top-load washer so I will get about 80 loads from a regular size bag of detergent. At $10.95 each, that’s only ~$.17 a load! If you have a front loader you will get up to twice as much out of it. The Large size is an even better deal too!
